Working with local people to make our Highland communities dementia-friendly
At DFC, we believe that positive depictions of life in older age and life with dementia need to be encouraged to alter the public’s perceptions and get across the message that ageing need not be something we have to fear.
We run awareness programmes for businesses, organisations and community groups throughout East Sutherland and the Scottish Highlands.
These short, but important, tailored programmes provide participants with:
- a general understanding of what dementia is and the most common symptoms
- some guidance on how to recognise if a person may have dementia
- some useful “dos” and “don’ts” when interacting with a person with dementia
- AND, most important of all, how to make your business, organisation or group dementia friendly
You can become dementia friendly too!
If you run a business or organisation in East Sutherland or are part of a community group and would like to become more dementia friendly then please contact us to arrange for one of our trained facilitators to visit you at your premises.
